Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
A Memorandum of Understanding is a non-legally binding document which expresses an intention to cooperate with another organisation but does not commit the University to a specific collaborative programme.
A commitment to a specific activity is the subject of a separate agreement (MoA).
All forms of international collaborative activity must have an MoU in place before an MoA is developed. For further information about developing an MoU and for the template MoU, please see Wiki or contact Edinburgh Global.

A review has been undertaken of the guidance and processes which support the preparation and approval of contractual collaborative or partnership agreements for academic related activity. The outcome of this review has been the development of approval process documents, guidance and templates to help colleagues as they develop collaborative arrangements.
Memorandum of Agreement (MoA)
A Memorandum of Agreement is a is a legally binding document between the University of Edinburgh and partner universities/institutions setting out the terms and conditions for the collaborative provision.
All collaborative activity must also have a Memorandum of Agreement in place before any activity commences.
