Terms of Reference and membership

Terms of reference and membership for Academic Strategy Group.

A confidential forum for the Principal, Heads of School and relevant Senior Officers to informally discuss and contribute to University-wide strategy, initiatives and issues.

Any member can suggest an agenda item as long as it has University-wide relevance.

Examples of items from recent discussions:

Teaching and Learning, Student Experience, Research and REF, input to the Strategic Plan, the Survey Strategy, planning for learning and teaching and research under coronavirus restrictions.

Historical note:

Academic Strategy Group was set up in 2009 following the reorganisation of the Senate Committees that resulted in there no longer being a forum in which the Principal and all Heads of School could meet.

3 times a year:

  • End of summer - to discuss NSS results
  • October/November
  • February/March

Academic Strategy Group meetings comprise the Heads of Schools, and those responsible for the management and leadership of the University and delivering its major strategies.
